Characteristics of natural and organic perfumes from MAAR

The fragrances of MAAR are composed of 97% natural ingredients of the highest quality, which we extract from flowers and plants of the Mediterranean coast. The remaining 3% of the formula of our perfumes are completely safe synthetic elements that must be present for the aroma to be maintained and fixed on the skin for 6 to 8 hours. If we didn’t include those synthetic ingredients, the scent would evaporate very quickly. However, this percentage is up to 4 times lower than in most brands.

WHAT ARE EXACTLY NATURAL PERFUMS?

Natural perfumes are those that are not composed of synthetic ingredients, thus reproducing the aromas found in nature in a more real way with a resulting scent with a higher olfactory quality.

Why to buy natural fragrances?

A fragrance is made up of dozens of ingredients and each of those ingredients, in turn, is made up of a mixture of molecules. When the ingredient is natural, the mixture of molecules is not fixed, as it depends on the species of flower or plant, where it is grown or what year it was harvested. On the other hand, when the ingredient is synthetic, the aroma is fix and simpler because it reproduces only those molecules responsible for the aroma that synthetic ingredient tries to imitate. 

So the essences of MAAR, which have a high percentage of natural ingredients, reproduce in a more realistic way the aromas we find in nature, which makes them fragrances of higher olfactory quality. 

WHAT MEANS THAT OUR FRAGRANCES ARE VEGAN?

In cosmetics and perfumery the testing of products on animals is very common, as it is still mandatory to be able to sell in China. These tests are usually done on rabbits and consist of skin and eye irritation tests. At MAAR we do not test and will never test on animals.

In addition, we do not use ingredients of animal origin, such as beeswax or amber gray, coming from sperm whale secretions. 

WHY OUR PERFUMES ARE SUSTAINABLE?

We are committed to a balanced relationship with the environment and a conscious use of natural resources. At MAAR we avoid single-use plastics such as cellophane and our packaging is recyclable in parts, to be able to recycle each component correctly. We use glass containers, both in perfumery and cosmetics, and paper of controlled cutting. At MAAR, we also reduce freight transport distances and therefore the carbon footprint, working with 89% of Spanish suppliers. 

WHAT THE ECOLOGICAL FRAGANCES are made of?

MAAR’s organic fragrances are made up of natural ingredients and essential oils extracted from plants and flowers. 

Once we have the essence with all the ingredients responsible for the aroma of the fragrance, we combine it with organic wheat alcohol and water, so that the mixture is less dry for the skin. At MAAR we do not use dyes or stabilizers, such as BHT, so our fragrances are free of potential endocrine disruptors.
